Dave plays drums in Rampage. He started playing when he was 24, self taught. Voice lessons at 27. As Dave puts it, "When I was 24 I went to watch a band rehearse. They had a stand up singer, 2 guitar players, a bassist and a drum kit with no drummer. (the drummer didn't show up) They kept playing "Living After Midnight" by Judas Priest but it sounded empty without the drums so I volunteered myself for the task. I remember sitting behind the drums and keeping a simple "1,2,3,4" beat then a few months later I bought a used Tama Swingstar for 1000 dollars from an FBI agent. The guys in the band said "We didn't know you could play drums?". I said "Neither did I". Within 6 months I was playing in a garage band and within 2 years I was playing in a band called "Blue Rose" which featured a female singer. I learned how to do vocal harmonies in this band.

Over the next few years I sat in with several bands including an old timer's group called the Sundowners and a Tex-Mex band called Mary and the Marquis. I was kicked out of both bands because according to them I was "Too loud and too rock and roll".

I use a technique on the snare drum called "rimshot" which means every snare beat is played hitting the rim and head at the same time creating a louder sound than normal. This causes the stick to eventually break in the middle. In 1998 I joined the IRS band and for the first time I was singing lead which is no easy task when drumming. In 2005 I tried out for Rampage and made the band as the drummer and backup singer. My influences include Paul Rodgers, Phil Collins, Steve Perry, David Coverdale and Doyle Bramhall II. My preferred genre of music is Blues and Gospel. What influences me.................Going to Baptist Church and listening to music and singers. It humbles me.

David is also an; Automotive ASE Master Technician (22 certifications). Computer repair technician. Former Community College, Western Technical College and FCI La Tuna teacher and instructor.
